One of my friends recently asked for me to show her a few tips on how to choose and apply make up when you're on a budget. I was flattered that she came to me so I thought I'd share those nuggets of wisdom with you all in a series about how to pick the right foundation, powder, eye shadow, blush, and lip color.
How do you choose a foundation? The tricky thing about foundation is that most people don't realize that a foundation should be chosen by the color of your veins. That's right, turn your hand around and look at the color of veins that are at your wrist.
Warm- Your skin is yellow or gold toned and have green veins.
Cool- Your skin is pink or beige and you have blue veins.
Olive- Your skin has a brown undertone and your veins are a mix of green and blue.
From these you shoud be able to identify what you base color will be, so when you go to pick out a foundation, you'll find one that suits you. The product that I've found that does do a good job of matching your tone and looking natural is CoverGirl TruBlend. It's not a heavy feeling foundation and glides on smoothly.
Like anything else, a good foundation is just the beginning. Keep an eye out for my next post in this series: Perfect Powder.
If you're interested in a make up lesson, shopping buddy, or etiquette assistant shooot me an email at sparklyinthecity@gmail.com
