I spent yesterday's post (Read It Here) focusing on what men should be taking in to serious consideration which means that, today, I will be focusing on the ladies. So, for the sake of equality, here we go...
Yesterday I listed the attributes that I wanted in a man when I was 18 years old. In the ten years since I made that list, I have learned a lot, not just about men, but also about myself, more specifically, the kind of man I want, even need. I used to think that because I am outgoing I needed someone who is more introverted. What I have learned is that I actually desire to be with someone who will enjoy going out as much as I do. I also know that I need to be with someone who can show me they care, not just tell me.
But what about all the other ladies out there? Do you know what is important? Nearly every single woman put some version of "relationship with Christ" on their survey as a non-negotionable. I was really pleased with that response. So what does that look like, specifically? I went to my community group co-leader for some help for biblically based character traits of a godly man. Here's what she sent:

Here's what she sent:
- Man of character, prays and studies the Word of God, is strong but tender
- Does he love Jesus more than you?
- What does he fear? The absence of fear makes one arrogant.
- Is he slow to anger?
- Does he repent?
As I read over her list I realized she was spot on with what each of us ladies should be using as criteria for a future spouse, even a potential boyfriend. So, my advice is this- since we shouldn't be pursuing a relationship, surround yourselves with men of godly character, who exhibit these qualities. Build friendships with these men, because even if you don't end up dating one of them, you will be able to uphold those standards for any man who does want a relationship with you.
